The First Week
about us

DAY 4

We’ve been together for three days now, and we’d like to explain to you what you got yourself really into. Don’t worry, we are not some kind of cult (although the name of our company does translate to cult), but we are also more than just some workout videos and nutrition plans.

We started off as a small group of enthusiasts in 2011, connecting through a then famous blogging platform, LiveJournal. Over the years, our community grew from only a dozen followers in total to about 5000 people a month participating in our programs nowadays. We put most of our efforts towards creating the best online experience possible, but our communities have long ago grown into something bigger. They run offline meetings and train together in parks and gyms all round the globe. We participate in sport and healthy lifestyle events and organise fitness raves. Our longest training party lasts for a week - Sekta Camp is our annual summer sports camp in the mountains, where people train, laugh, dance, have fun together and make new friends.
Since doing those first workouts together and putting together first meal plans, our approach towards exercise and nutrition has changed dramatically. Our initial and only goal was to lose weight and help others do the same. Beside turning away from fad diets and laying a 100% science-based foundation in all our courses, these days we focus on a wholistic and sustainable approach. It is no longer about those kilos, we want to find ways to make people love eating healthy and exercising for fun.

We no longer believe in one-size-fits-all approach and thus we go into a great effort to create custom programs tailored to the needs of our community. We have programs for pregnant women, postpartum restoration programs, programs for busy individuals and separate programs for people needing or wanting to go easy without sacrificing result and quality.

Lena Degtyar, PhD, is the person who was at the beginning of the formation of the scientific department at Sekta. She will share her experience with you and tell you more about our approach:
In these 11 years of work we have helped over 250000 people to develop healthy habits and reach their personal goals. These are Russian speaking people from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and all over the world. With programs in English we want to make our courses accessible for English speakers globally. We want people to fall in love with healthy eating and regular exercise. We look for ways to make the courses fun. This will no doubt lead to long-term changes in habits and lifestyle. And, we know well that these cannot be achieved without having someone route for you and support you every step of the way. That’s the work our team does.

We asked people who participated in our courses to say something about us. We asked them why they are with us and who they would recommend our courses to? Here are some of the answers:
Sekta makes sport a part of your life, and not just a preparation for summer all over again and again every year
Definitely give it a try if it’s hard to force yourself to go to the gym, if you’re tired of the same workouts on YouTube, if you want to learn how to eat with taste and not hate yourself for a croissant.
For me, sekta stands out for the level of support. Not just technical support: the mentors here are like bros, they are always there for you. And, most importantly, they will help make a clear plan of actions and a whole system that will work for a particular person.

Actually, the courses are necessary for those who cannot figure out what's what in the world of healthy living. Or for someone who doesn't have the motivation and needs a helping hand to get them through.
Sekta works with motivation, with a gentle non-violent approach to oneself, and to one's well-being and general condition. It’s as if they are leading you by the hand and supporting you. You can’t even get angry if something doesn’t work out, because you will definitely be told it’s ok, everything shall pass and will work out. There are always alternatives and substitutes.

The scientific approach is, of course, top-notch - nutrition/physical activity, everything is explained, everything is scientifically and evidence based.
Complex work with both physical activity, nutrition, and motivation.
What I always say is that coaches there are the same like us, they also suffer during training :)

Also lectures, recipes, care - everything completes the program.
Sekta is gentle care and soft support, only for me, it is like my secret
